The first thing to do is pour about 3 or 4 cups of water into your instant pot. The freshwater poured should be medium-heat, not boiling water.; We advise using a digital thermometer to check the water temperature for more conciseness.
Then, install the steam rack into the pressure cooker and fix it. Place the glass canning jars onto that tray and stabilize it later on. Next, please fill the instant pot max with more hot water.

And when your free time is the scant 25 minutes your baby spends asleep in his infant seat, all that Sisyphean time spent at the sink and stove hurts it really does.
I started off boiling everything to sterilize it, but the hard water in my city left a scaly white residue on the bottles, so I went looking for an alternative one that was hopefully quicker and more hands-off than boiling-water sterilization. I found it in the pressure cooker. The instructions for my pressure cooker had me place the washed parts on the cookers steaming rack, add a cup of water, bring the pot up to full pressure, and immediately turn off the heat. The process was fast and, except for the few minutes while the contents were coming up to pressure, could be stopped and resumed as needed. How To Sterilise Jars In An Instant Pot
Storing food in glass is a great way to ensure that the food is properly covered, sealed, unexposed to air and therefore protected from contaminating germs. This will be even more effective if you sterilise the jars before using.;
Things like homemade jam or sauces need to be stored in clean sterilised containers otherwise there is a risk that they will quickly start to go mouldy. Also sterilizing jars for storing dry food such as rice, lentils or cereals also prevents them from being contaminated and will ensure they last much much longer.;
Here is the method for sterilizing jars in an Instant Pot.
First add some water to the bottom of your Instant Pot. This will vary depending on the size of your unit:
- 1 cup for a 3qt pot
- 2 cups for a 6qt pot
- 3 cups for a 8qt pot
Then insert the steam rack. This is very important because you dont want the jars to touch the base of the bowl. This may cause your Instant Pot to stop functioning and display errors.
Place your jars upside down on top of the steam rack. You can also add in the metal lids if needed. Once everything is in, secure the lid.
The settings you have available will depend on the Instant Pot model you have. The latest models have a specific Sterilise button, but with other models, you can simply select the Pressure Cook or Steam functions. Choose your available function, set the time for 15 mins and set the pressure to high. Press start and leave the Instant Pot to do its thing.

Baby bottles and other food containers that you use for your children need to be cleaned thoroughly and often. Ive found that its significantly easier than cleaning all the individual bits and pieces of bottles, cups, breast pumps etc.;

Make sure you take apart all the bottles so that all the separate bits have a chance to be properly sterilised. If you have small bits like straws or bottle tops make sure they are not going to fall through the gaps in your steam rack.
You may have to use a colander instead or place cheesecloth over your steam rack. This is again to ensure none of your items come in contact with the base of the Instant Pot while it is on.;
Once the Instant Pot has finished its cycle. Carefully remove the baby bottles and caps and let them dry on a clean towel before using.;Because this method is so simple and easy, you can use it regularly to make sure your childs food containers stay clean and hygienic.;

How Do I Prepare My Baby’s Bottles
Prepare your baby’s formula by mixing water and the appropriate amount of powdered infant formula. The packaging on the side of the formula container will tell you how much to use. Carefully follow the directions. You can use tepid tap water, as long as your local or state health departments have labeled it as safe to drink.
If you’re concerned about your water, you may sterilize it to kill germs. Here’s how:
- pour cold tap water into a teapot or saucepan
- place pot on the stove over medium heat
- bring water to a rolling boil, and let boil for about a minute
- let the water cool until it’s at room temperature
Test to see if the water is cool enough for your baby to drink by shaking a few drops of water on the inside of your wrist. If it stings, it’s still too hot. Once water has cooled, don’t let it sit longer than 30 minutes before adding it to the formula.
Once prepared, the formula is ready to feed to your baby immediately without additional refrigeration or warming. Formula that’s been prepared should be consumed or stored in the refrigerator within 1 hour. If it has been at room temperature for more than 1 hour, throw it away.
